By Shawn Gunarich Multimedia Editor Senior Alyssa Adams, in her second year of Red Lion lacrosse, commits to becoming a Cincinnati Bearcat in the fall season. This lax player is nothing but a D1 prospect. Not only did Adams score roughly 70 goals last season, she won about 80 draw controls giving weight to the name draw control specialist. Adams looks back on the previous season highlighting their victory over West York, which had been the first time Red Lion Girls defeated the notorious Bulldogs in a rainstorm blowout 14-8.

Staff Writer Finishing 7-4 in league play and fourth place overall in York-Adams Division 1 last year, Red Lion’s girls lacrosse team is preparing to lead the rankings this year. With six returning seniors, they intend to go out with a bang. Senior and University of Cincinnati commit Alyssa Adams has big plans for the team this year. “With the work ethic we have, I definitely can see us winning the County Championship,” Adams said. By Rachel Lau Senior Editor Senior Greg Potter has vaulted his way through track since his freshman year. Every season was eventful, with both awards and injuries. Potter wanted to do track and field because he was a cross country runner and desired to run distance. So, when joining the track team, he didn’t expect to become a pole vaulter. By Cora Beyer Staff Writer The mid-March snow has barely melted, but the Red Lion boys’ tennis team is back in full swing with lots of new additions. The team has grown considerably this season with a total of six new players joining the returning players. “We have a pretty young team this year,” senior varsity player Kyle Palmieri said. “We have a lot of new talent, which is good for the team’s progression.” A few of the new teammates are playing tennis for the very first time this season. “I’ve never played tennis before, but I was easily talked into it,” new player and junior Dylan Khuc said. “I really enjoy being on the team and learning about the sport.” By Jason Rebuck

The goal of the season is simple; each competitor will work hard all season to improve his or her individual performance and help the team. With the boys record of 5-1 last season, Coach Barshinger is looking for progress from last year since the loss of several key seniors last year leaves the current team very young By Paul Jones Sports Coordinator Some say that it takes a special kind of person to play goalie in lacrosse. It is not necessarily normal to willingly let others hurl lacrosse balls. Going into this season, the boys lacrosse team had some uncertainty about who was going to play goalie. Assistant Coach Nathan Barrett felt that uncertainty early on, but later it was a clear choice. “Matt Hale stepped up. Cameron Aughie is a freshman. We have a sophomore (Nick Serrano) but he’s out for the whole season with an injury,” Coach Barrett said. “Matt has just really showed up this year.’’ |
